Never shoot at a strutting bird. Calm yourself down and wait for a better shot when he extends his neck to gobble or try to bring him out of that strut with a soft yelp from your call. If all fails and the bird wanders off into the brush don't get discouraged. He may come back and if not you can rest easier knowing that he is there for another hunt rather than crippling a bird by being impatient.
